We love this series. It's a great first chapter book for my daughter who said that she loves that there are pictures in the book. She's in first grade and these were a great series for her to start with. I think they're a great length too. These are helping to foster a love of reading in her which I also love.

When Karen goes too fast on her roller skates, she feels like she’s flying. She was certainly an excited, little kid. You can tell by how repetitive she is and how trivial her story telling is.
One day, she jumps over paint cans and falls, hurting her wrist. Uh-oh. Time to go to the hospital. We go through all the procedures and technical phrases, which were not very exciting.

At home, the whole family helps care for Karen…until, one day, they stop and she has to do things herself. The doctor said no roller skating for 2 months, which doesn’t make Karen happy. Then she gets into competition with a boy, who claims to have a better cast than her. Just one thing after another with Karen.

It’s a cute, little tale. Loved the illustrations, of course.

I bought this for my 6 year old granddaughter who is a very good reader. She loved it so much that after her parents thought she was asleep she turned on the light and read the whole book. This was #2 in the series. I immediately ordered her 1, 3 and 4. She devoured them quickly. She’s disappointed #5 isn’t published yet. I had to find her a new series. I chose Dav Pilkey Cat Kid graphic novels. She loves them too

Always funny how everyone gets treated instantly in books. It was a fun idea, a signing competition that gets her to talk to people even if it isn’t in the original way. It was fun and far less cringe inducing than the last book. I was glad to see she learnt a little about not having to embellish stories to make it worthwhile.
