Avengers by Jason Aaron Vol. 7: The Age Of Khonshu (Avengers (2018-2023)) Kindle & comiXology
From the dawn of time…to the end of the world? Trapped in an icy cave millennia in the past, Tony Stark has lost most of his armor and a good chunk of his mind. And tonight when the sun goes down and the devil comes around again, will Iron Man lose what is left of his soul? Back in the present, Earth's mightiest villains unite against a common threat: the Avengers! But even as the team faces a villainous uprising like no other, they come under attack from one of their own! Mummies are rising from their graves. Secret armies march by moonlight from K'un-Lun to Wakanda to Greenwich Village. A dark god invades Asgard. And the Moon Knight is unleashed as never before! So begins the Age of Khonshu. So fall the Avengers.

I've no interest in Moon Knight. Never did. But ride it out because the Mephisto storyline is pure gold!
Other problems include:
***SPOILERS TO FOLLOW***
Incredible amounts of time spent on introducing plotlines that have absolutely no bearing on this story. Like the Star Brand or Stark's history with Mephisto.
Comic companies need to get back to the idea of making their universes work together by living with the consequences of the writing they allowed to go to print before. In decades past they used to have to write their way out of corners forged years earlier by other creators. Doing that often took a while but it added a richness to the tapestry of the overall universe. Now, over reactionary writing is quick to retcon details to mirror watered down movie universes or just make something an alternate universe version of something else. It is not only lazy but it dilutes the brand until you have stories like this one where the stakes are so high as to be unrelateable, the twists so frequent that you wind up looking away instead of looking deeper, and doom so perpetually impending that it inspires complacency instead of dread.
This story has as much emotional depth as the movie Van Helsing (pretty imagery but no depth). I feel I could have made better use of my money and time by just reading the wikipedia entry.
I am sorry to say that The Avengers by Jason Aaron is huge deception, not a pleasant surprise, as I was expecting.
First and foremost, it seems that Aaron has a misunderstanding about the Moon Knight and its real nature. By trying to make him a super-powered character misguided to make the deeds in name of the god Khonshu, Aaron has created a twisted, convoluted and messy plot. It is often that the Avengers need to confront existential threats to Earth and the universe, OK, that's part of their mythology, but seldom has such menace been depicted in such absurd ways as Aaron did with this deranged Moon Knight.
I do not understand why such pretentious and ultimately confused storyline has such high number of 5-star reviews, but this is not the first time I am faced with that fact at Amazon. I can only say that if you, like me, has grown up with the Avengers of Roy Thomas and John Byrne, or the Moon Knight of Doug Moench, be aware that this trade paperback is going to be a huge disappointment.

Needed more Moon Knight, less everything else.
Just average really.

Unless you're a big fan of Jason Aaron's writing, this book is an easy skip.
