If you've been following Chip Zdarsky's Invaders (2019), and the (2018) Defenders revival then you'll know that Namor has returned to his villainous ways. This revelation actually dates back earlier to this issue of Jason Aaron's Avengers (2018). Namor has declared the oceans off-limits to the surface after tragedy has once again befallen Atlantis. Aaron, now joined by David Marquez, were both smart to place Namor in the spotlight of the issue as it allows them to explore the reasoning behind the King's decisions. Both get Namor right, balancing a regal air with pure, bloody wrath. This story is mostly a tease of what's to come, but it's given a lot of care from the writers. Such a major shakeup deserves such attention. I also appreciate reference to the previous state of Atlantis from Jonathan Hickman's Avengers (2012). Justin Ponsor's art helps the comic stand out and I especially love the redesign of Namor's look. I've recently taken a deep-dive (pun intended) into Namor's comic history. He's a character I feel doesn't get enough of a spotlight, hero or villain, but I think that this and what comes next will change that.
