Editorial Reviews

Review

"What made Stern's five-year run on The Avengers so successful and memorable were his characters. Each character had their distinct attitude and direction, as well as flaws, which set them apart from the typical super-hero stereotype. Stern understood what it meant to be a hero: being a hero, even at the power levels of the Avengers, required a human connection. It was never about their god-like powers or super-human abilities; it was about their humanity with all of its strengths and weaknesses." -- Jason Shayer

"Stern's was (and remains) the
Avengers run I knew the best until much later when I started reading the back issues. I love his run on the title. (And on Spider-Man, too)" -- B. McMolo

"Stern's Avengers will always be the 'real' Avengers. Marvel ought to publish a couple (few?) Omnibus or Epic Collection volumes of his incredible run." -- R. Allen Rader
