About the author

I write comic books! Growing up, I always wanted to write comics, but I ended up trying my hand at fiction first. I got my MFA from Columbia University, published a book of short stories with The Dial Press in 2006 called Voodoo Heart, then finally broke into comics in 2009 and haven't looked back since. I've worked extensively for DC Comics, writing such titles as Batman, Detective Comics, Justice League, the comic event books DC Dark Knights Metal and Death Metal, and Swamp Thing, among others. I've also created a number of series with some great co-creators and partners -- books like We Have Demons, Clear, Night of the Ghoul, Nocterra, American Vampire, Wytches, the Wake, AD: After Death, and more... I live in NY with my wife, Jeanie and our three boys. I am also a big fan of Elvis Presley.

This book contained two different stories, the first following our gal Pearl & her husband Henry as Skinner Sweet comes back into their lives, & Henry's secrets from his wife come back to haunt them. It was probably my favorite storyline so far in the series.
The second story follows Felicia Book & the former sheriff with the vampire child, Cashel. They are traveling into Nazi territory following some intelligence that a doctor for the Reich has discovered a cure for vampirism that will allow Cashel's son to live a normal life. But they bite off more than they can chew.
Both stories were wonderfully action packed, with great development from all our main characters (including Skinner, who gets to play... well, kind of play the good guy for a change). The writing is a treat & more different vampire species are introduced. I find the lore surrounding the myriad types of vampires one of the most interesting points of the story.
Then there's the art. The art in this graphic novel is perfect, in my opinion. Filled with details & vivid colors, the panels tell the story in the most vivid of ways, with some haunting images that get imprinted onto the mind's eye. It is the life behind the story.
Bottom line, if you like horror and/or graphic novels, give the American Vampire series a try. I would (of course) recommend starting with book 1, which is available on Kindle Unlimited. Actually, books 1 - 6 are available on KU, but as I mentioned above, I didn't even make it through this volume before buying the 2 volume omnibus for the entire run, including a couple of side spinoffs that do not appear in the individual volumes. I can't wait to dive into this in hard copy! I certainly recommend it to GN fans, & vampire fans, anywhere.
I don't want to say what the story is or what happens so i'll just say that this vol is just as good as the last two, so I def say to pick it up!

Snyder's plot is straightforward but philosophical: why would vampires involve themselves in the affairs of man? The artwork is brutalist in style and the colouring and shading add a sense of depth to the plot.

The second half is a story about Felicia Book and Cashel, two agents of the Vassals on a mission into Nazi vamp territory! This story is great for world building and letting you know more about vamps in general in the world of American Vampire, not to mention Vampire Gods and just an action packed storyline.
Overall, amazing volume and if you've read the first 2 volumes and are undecided, read this. It feels like this is where things are picking up in a larger picture scheme.
