Amazing Spider-Man Masterworks Vol. 13 (Amazing Spider-Man (1963-1998)) Kindle & comiXology

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 82 ratings

Collects Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #121-131.

Norman Osborn’s memory has returned. The Green Goblin is back. Gwen Stacy is missing. And it will all lead to a confrontation atop the George Washington Bridge whose aftermath will leave Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-Man, forever changed. That’s right it’s the—spoiler warning!— death of Gwen Stacy, the story that put a generation into therapy and cemented the Green Goblin’s name as the definition of evil. Plus, the debut of Col. John Jameson’s werewolf curse, the Man-Wolf. The beginning of Harry Osborn’s descent into madness and suspicion and a certain green costume. The first appearance of Frank Castle—the Punisher—the maybe-villain, maybe-anti-hero who would rise to become one of Marvel’s most famous characters. Topping it off, there’s first appearance of the nefarious Jackal, the return of the Vulture, Hammerhead, the hilarious Human Torch-built Spider-Mobile, and the shocking wedding of Aunt May and Doctor Octopus!

Lives up to its title superlative: Amazing! In the 60's (when I was very young) I collected the first ten years of Spider-Man. Unfortunately, I didn't keep them safe enough and they didn't fare well over the next 20 years. I sold them - not know the first year's issues were worth a fortune even with damage. Now, it's fun to read these compilations with my grandkids... and at a great low price. Highly recommended!

Excellent transition from paper to digital and much more affordable than these issues in mint condition. A true treasure for any Spider-Man fan.

Great stories and great art. This was worth it... sometimes the classics are better than what's currently out there. Lol

It was all going okay, I read the introduction about how comic books grew up in the 70's and the death of Gwen Stacy, though sad for fans, was an important part of that growth. Then they introduced the spidermobile. And just to drive home how ridiculous that idea was, its a dune buggy! And it shoots webbing! Sure, comic books were never meant to be Shakespearean in style or scope, but the spidermobile?!? Come on! How good could the deal with mattel have been?
