For the first time in ages, I feel like this is Ray Palmer. The plotting of DC's early 1960s, the character development and emotion of what was happening at Marvel at the same time.
Meanwhile in the front of the book, the origin and history of the Legion is told once again, and it is a very satisfying re-telling. I had never liked the retcon of R J Brande as a Durlan, but this time it works - and works VERY well. My complaint before was that I did not want to believe good old Brande could be so selfish. Paul digs further, doubles down, and shows that yes, Brande WAS that selfish, but brilliantly repented. And I am a sucker for well-told stories of redemption. Especially in the genre of superheroes, where the consequences of actions are so large.
