By Walt Kelly
Walt Kelly's Pogo is a satirical masterpiece commonly acknowledged as one of the three greatest comic strips ever published, and continues to have an influence on modern society. In the April 30, 2000 edition of the New York Times, a front page article on the government's antitrust case against software giant Microsoft uses Pogo to illustrate the goverment's attempt to breakup the company. "The government plan, no doubt, will strike the executive team at Microsoft as a 'Pogo' policy for competition, recalling the observation of Walt Kelly's cartoon possum: 'We have met the enemy and he is us.'"
