Members of the stranded crew of the airship Italia have spotted land, but planning a journey across the vast ice expanse causes conflicts anew among the increasingly fractious party. Meanwhile, aboard the rescue ship Krassin, American reporter H.R. finds the radio gear he needs for work monopolized by his Russian counterpart, Zowie, who has little tolerance for his brash attitude.
