I picked this series up with issue 10 due to Paul Pope being on the book. What I discovered was a Western Comic that was getting it right. It was not campy at all, in fact it was serious, dark and mysterious. Unlike Jonah Hex who seems to have three personalities, one you can like, one you hate and one that doesn't have any reason to be there; the Lone Ranger is a straight forward revenge driven character that is likeable all the time. There is no excessive violence towards women in this book unlike Hex which always seems to have a rape story every six issues. No this book is just good western action. In this issue the Ranger, Tonto and the local Sheriff comes across a huge brush fire. LR jumps his horse down into the flames to rescue a screaming child. He gets the child out then turns back to get the rest of the family, only Tonto has already done so. He passes out from the flames. Later he tells LR, I was burned by the flames, my horse was burned but you and your horse remain untouched. I know some would say I just ruined the book but that's only three pages, theres still plenty more to read
