Is the reading experience different from what's already out there?
It's an all-in-one app, so users can continue to purchase comics into the application, rather than buying an application for every single comic. So the user, should they buy 20 comics, doesn't have 20 applications for twenty comics -- just one.
While other applications cut the page into landscape pictures that function like a slideshow, Comics by comiXology includes Iconology's patent pending "guided view", which keeps the entire page in tact while also providing a panel-by-panel sequence that is orientation aware , providing a perfect reading experience for both landscape and portrait oriented panels.
Are there other advantages from being an all-in-one app?
As an all-in-one app, comic fans can search the app or browse by genre, creators and publishers. You can easily follow your favorite creators or publishers.
Publishers benefit from having app-level branding. No longer are publishers hidden behind the company that produces their comics for the iTunes App Store.
How many comics can it hold?
As many as you're willing to make space for. Comics by comiXology contains a data management function that allows the user to choose how much space can be used for comics, and when to delete a comic.
Doesn't digital comics damage brick and mortar retailers and, by extension, the market?
Comics by comiXology is the only solution with built in connections to local retailers, including comiXology's retail partners – you can look up a local retailer from within the application! comiXology's retail partners will also share in the revenue from digital sales with comiXology's upcoming affiliate program.
