Comixology: I know many of our readers want to get right to questions about Jenna Jameson, but let's start with a more traditional question: what's Shadow Hunter about?

Christina Z: Describing a very complex mythology isn't easy but on a basic level, Shadow Hunter is a story about a young woman seeking answers about mysterious visions she's had since childhood, and after answering an ad about exploring past lives, these "visions" turn her current life into total chaos.

Mariah Huehner: It's a story about choices, about what real inner strength means, and about figuring out who you really are. Plus there's a lot of scary creature ass kicking going on. And the art is breathtaking.

Cmxlgy: Jenna Jameson is the newest in a line of famous creators working with Virgin. Tell us how she got connected to Virgin Comics.

MH: Well, Virgin Comics is all about pushing the limits of what people expect from this medium. And if there's anyone out there who defies what people expect, it's Jenna Jameson. So in that way it was a perfect fit. Jenna wanted to do something really different and we provided that outlet. And the result is a book I think will surprise a lot of people with its depth, humor, and true horror roots.

Cmxlgy: What's her involvement in the book?

MH: Jenna's basically a creative juggernaut. She and Christina have really worked hard to define a world for this character, make her someone anyone can relate to, and still keep it fresh and fun. So they created an intelligent, unique heroine with a sense of humor, caught up in circumstances beyond her control. And the artist, Mukesh Singh, really breathed life into their creation.

Cmxlgy: For those of our readers out there that don't know of her, we should point out that Jenna Jameson is a famous erotic-film star. How does that
play into the comic book?

CZ: While the character is a very attractive woman, Jenna's career does not play into the book. But her passions, like my own and my editor's, contribute to the overall feel of the story.

MH: I think certain aspects of Jenna's personality, her uniqueness, her sense of adventure, her tenacity, have certainly influenced our main character. And Jenna is a huge horror fan so that's what we concentrated on genre-wise for this story. There's a lot more to Jenna than her film career.

Cmxlgy: What I mean is, is there a lot of sex in the book?

CZ: Although Jezzerie (the main character) is certainly sexy, Shadow Hunter is a horror title. Deep, strong emotions and complex characters are what the book is woven around.

MH: We stayed true to Jenna's vision for this book, which is more along the lines of the films she loves like The Thing and other horror. We wanted to do something that would surprise people.

Cmxlgy: I assume this is a MR (Mature Reader) comic?

MH: Because it's a horror story it walks the line between Teen & Up and a Mature Reader title due to the complex themes and violence. It's definitely not for kids but it has no nudity or that sort of content. It's creepy and weird and if you're looking for monster beheadings, well, this is the book for you. You've never seen horror this beautifully draw before.

Cmxlgy: Mr Singh, I see that you've worked on other Virgin comics. What got you involved in Shadow Hunter?

Mukesh Singh: The trio of Suresh, Sharad and Gotham! They and the fact that doing a pseudo horror/fantasy/action title after the thriller that was Gamekeeper would be a nice change.

Cmxlgy: OK, I can't help myself: What kind of reference materials do you use to draw Ms. Jameson as the heroine?

MS: None. Purely by Imagination :)

Cmxlgy: Ms Z: you're well known to pen some stories about kick-ass women in the past (Witchblade, for one). What makes Shadow Hunter different from
your previous work?

CZ: There are many differences if I compared her to say, Witchblade. The main character in Shadow Hunter, Jezzerie Jaden, has a sweet innocence about her. And a strong desire to fit in like the rest of us. But we all want to fit in on our terms and that's her driving force.

Also, when I write, I make sure that the story always has the ability to move into other mediums like video games, feature films, animation and that there's enough history and substance to make it a fun experience. So I kept that in mind with Shadow Hunter and Mukesh's art really gives it cinematic feel.

Cmxlgy: What's the process of working with Ms. Jameson like? How much input into the story does she give, if any?

CZ: Jenna is an inspiration of individuality. When I met her I knew she shared an important similarity with nearly everyone: the desire to make your mark and lead a happy life. It's amazing how something so simple can spawn such a wealth of ideas. I look forward to working with her on future projects.

Cmxlgy: What's the Z stand for? (couldn't find this on the web, so I gotta take a shot)

CZ: Zinger? Zamboni? Zulu? You decide. In fact, at the vet, my cats are listed as Iggy and Bobby Z. Its the same with my Costco card, but most places think it's a typo and demand I give them more letters. So I just spell it Z-E-E.
