Man, talk about a lame review. I seriously doubt this movie could be considered any sort of bookend to Charlie Wilson's War, and the review itself is so tainted by the reviewers need to see this movie through an ideological left-wing prism that he completely misses the point that this movie is about the title character, Iron Man. Does the reviewer think that all movies should be about third world victims of terrorism? It seems to me that the reviewer should review the movie he's watching and not the movie he wants to watch. I dread to think that all the reviewers opinions are based on whether or not a movie portrays middle easterners in a light acceptable to his own ideological bent and rigid preconceived notions.

In response to rmoonyose
posters that obsessively refer to the author in the third person anonymous ('the reviewer') instead of the first person, especially when directing questions at them, sound pretentious and lame. Does the poster carry out this practice in real life?

Ah, the old "tainted by the ideological left-wing prism" chestnut! Wondering when that would pop up. Glad you live in a world where a movie can take place partially in Afghanistan, deal with an arms manufacturer and a military response in another country and it doesn't make you think for one moment about life outside the theater. Bully for you. I don't live in that world.
"...he completely misses the point that this movie is about the title character, Iron Man."
I'm guessing you read the beginning and end and totally skipped over paragraphs 5 & 6 (and to a lesser extent, paragraphs 3 & 4.) That's okay, I understand. "He said Middle East and 9/11! Get 'im!"
"I seriously doubt this movie could be considered any sort of bookend to Charlie Wilson's War."
It's called noticing patterns. It makes life more amusing.
"Does the reviewer think that all movies should be about third world victims of terrorism?"
Yes. "Speed Racer" should be about third world victims of terrorism. "What Happens in Vegas" should be about third world victims of terrorism. "Baby Mama" should be about third world victims of terrorism. "Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay" should be about... wait, what is that about, anyway? I haven't seen it. Probably doesn't have anything to do with 9/11, that's for sure.
"I dread to think that all the reviewers opinions are based on whether or not a movie portrays middle easterners in a light acceptable to his own ideological bent and rigid preconceived notions."
I'm sure there are plenty of places on the intarweb you can find Middle Easterners portrayed as EEEEEVIL! non-humans; maybe you'd be happier there?
Thanks for the comment.
Kent
