Hmm. There are dissertations ON comics, but I'm not sure I've run across a dissertation AS comics. I'll get crackin' on that.

Didn't Gene Kannenberg mention he did his dissertation as a comic, or was that also on comics?

It was on comics: "Form, function, fiction: Text and image in the comics narratives of Winsor McCay, Art Spiegelman, and Chris Ware." It has comics IN it, but they are not of Gene's making.
