Though it has its charms, Ultimate Muscle is not the 18+ volume series that earns a review this week from Shaenon K. Garrity. That honor goes instead to Little Lulu.

Having recovered from Wondercon- related illness sufficiently to return to the keyboard, Shaenon K. Garrity discusses her evolving feelings about cons in this week's "All the Comics in the World." They aren't as much fun as a professional as they were as a fangirl, but how does 2008 stack up?

Marty Links died, which feels strange, maybe because I didn't realize she was still alive, or maybe because just the other day I was sketching transvestites dressed like her female characters. Tip for comic-book collectors: you can find back issues of a comic cheap if it's a) non-continuity and b) for girls. That's how I stocked up on old marriage-themed Lois Lane comics to display at my wedding reception a few years ago.

I love comic strips, even though the daily strip is among the most limiting of artistic formats. I like to think of a comic strip as something like haiku, a single moment or observation captured in ink. Hopefully funnier, though.
