This series is amazing. The art is great, and the writing is exactly what I love about this era of the X teams. I always enjoy the snark, the realistic interactions and relationships between the characters, and just about everything about this run of X-Factor. The team deals with moral questions and conundrums, like all X teams (and most comics) but in a unique way. This is what I love about the "B-list" heroes that are included in the line up- they aren't the 1 dimensional, goody two shoes characters that we see at the front of the Avengers or the Justice League teams, they are people. I would recommend this series to everyone, not just comic lovers, but anyone that enjoys a great story driven by interesting characters.

I am really liking this run of Peter David's X-Factor, starting in 2005 and dealing with the fall out from "House of M." This first issue collects (#1-6). The writing is gritty and noire-like. Key characters are presented as flawed human beings, rather than superheroes, each has a demon they are struggling with (Madrox the ever-independent personalities of his long term duplicates, Siryn her alcoholism, Rictor the loss of his powers after M Day, etc.) and this makes for interesting reading. The Kindle edition is competitively priced versus the paper copy (for a switch!), and worked well on my Fire (zoom functionality to read small text for example). The art isn't my absolute favorite, but good, and evokes a gritty feel that supports the storyline. Would recommend.

X-Factor is really great. Themes, dialogs, caracters, pencils... Everything stuck perfectly. In this first volume, you can't expect a slow presentation. It's fire all the time!

What Peter David does here is not just another X-Men story. Not at all! David discovered how to do interesting and brand new stories using the X-Universe, not once falling in the same. Not even Ed Brubaker, Mike Carey and Matt Fraction (writers who have been done great stuff), together, made with the X-Men Universe what Peter does here.
The atmosphere is great: sometimes funny, sometimes light, sometimes scary. Some of the stories, in fact, remembers me The Sandman, in it's begining, dark and brilliant.

I really miss the x factor team that I remember from high school. The team lead by Alex Summers and Polaris. This group is obviously very close to that so I'm glad to have Jamie, Strong Guy and Wolfsbane back. Great collection, I'm getting more !

This is good but I would recommend just getting the Paperback instead of the Hardcover.

Hard thing to remember is that this new series is not about Jamie but about the whole group. Strong Guy comes off as a jerk, Siryn is annoyingly angry at the world, Wolfsbane is once again a religious nut who goes psycho, Rictor is dull but I expect that to change.

I liked the Madrox Mini better but this was pretty good.

In the aftermath of House of M, a group of mutants tries to unravel mutant mysteries. Volume 1: The Longest Night makes me want to continue reading this series. The detective story feel of the book sets it apart from the dozen other X-titles. I would definitely recommend this book.

I have read ALL of X-Factor from the original #1 to current issues, and this series is by far the best. All the characters rock and the writing/stories are spectacular. I bought this for my friend in an attempt to get him hooked!

I know stuff.")

I'd encountered this grouping of X-fator during The Messsiah Complex and in more detail in the Civil War series. On that basis I just had to find out more, and was not disappointed. The art work takes a bit of getting to use to, but on a re-read I found its sparse and grimey approach ideally suited to this interesting but woebegone crew. Previously second-stringers and also-rans this is a great format to explore in detail the implications of what it is to be Madox and how each dupe is facet of his personality, Rictor comes across a true and adept survivor even if he does not quite realise it at this stage. M is wonderfully sardonic and Syrin not a lady to be crossed. Strong Guy very much the likeable and (almost) gentle giant, though how long will that last and finally there is Layla Miller...yes there is Layla Miller possibly the most perplexing character in the X-world. Set in the aftermath of M-day with X-factor trying to impose itself as the protector of Mutant town there are all manner of interesting plots set up and running...one small gripe why did we have to have Whinging Depowered Man as a charcter who captures Syrin and takes up 5-6 pages with his moaning-cod-philosophy..the only positive thing I can say is he get's hung and dead at the end. OK Soap-Box over...this is a fine TPB, I'm going to have to carry on with the series.
