This story introduces Elizabeth's young cousin Constance Collins, who visits Collinwood with her fiancé Garry Harker. (The couple will return as newlyweds in Dark Shadows #21, August 1973, "The Crimson Carnival.") In this story, hellfire (last seen in the second issue) reappears inside Collinwood and consumes Constance Collins, "the last innocent Collins," and sends her to hell. Barnabas leaps into the hellfire and follows his cousin to the netherworld.
